Les Fonts (Las Fuentes) beach in Alcossebre, with spring water flowing down to the shore

Las Fuentes, Alcossebre: a guide to the area

Las Fuentes is the northern part of Alcossebre's town coastline: a fine-sand beach where fresh water bubbles up, a 283-berth marina, a seafront promenade and, further along the coast, Cala Blanca and the lighthouse.

Las Fuentes (Les Fonts) is the marina area of Alcossebre, the seaside part of Alcalà de Xivert (Castellón, Spain). Within a few hundred metres it brings together a beach, a marina, a promenade and seafront restaurants, with a quieter feel than the town centre. Here's your guide to getting to know it.

Les Fonts beach and its freshwater springs

Les Fonts is a town beach of fine sand, around 400 metres long and 40 metres wide, north of the marina. What makes it unique is at the water's edge: fresh water bubbles up through the sand, from an ancient underground aquifer. Those springs give their name to the beach and to the whole area.

According to the Alcossebre tourism website, it has lifeguards, toilets, showers, foot showers, access ramps, a children's area and beach equipment hire. As it's short, it's handy if you want a swim without long walks across the sand.

Blue Flag: in 2026 the Alcossebre beaches with Blue Flag status are the Carregador, El Moro, the Romana and Manyetes. Les Fonts lost its flag in 2017, although some websites still show it with one.

Las Fuentes marina

Las Fuentes marina has 283 berths and is home to the Club de Vela Alcossebre, an accredited sailing school. Alongside it there's a diving school and companies offering boat hire and sailing trips. Excursions leave from here to the Columbretes Islands Natural Park, a small archipelago off the Castellón coast.

Even if you don't sail, the marina makes a lovely stroll, especially at sunset. More information on the Turisme Comunitat Valenciana marina page.

The Las Fuentes seafront promenade

A flat seafront promenade runs along the Las Fuentes coast, linking the beach with the marina. It's easy walking at any time of day and for all ages. If you'd like to take it slowly, all the way to the marina, see the guide to the Las Fuentes seafront promenade.

Eating in Las Fuentes

Next to the marina entrance, right on the beach, is El Náutico restaurant, part of the Club Náutico Las Fuentes, serving Mediterranean rice dishes and fish. The area also has cafés, ice-cream parlours and other restaurants. To choose where to eat by the sea, see the guide to rice and fish at the Club Náutico Las Fuentes.

Cala Blanca and the lighthouse

Following the coast north, Cala Blanca is a small cove of fine sand and pebbles, around 30 × 10 metres, next to Alcossebre lighthouse. The official tourism website rates access as difficult, so wear suitable footwear. It's the starting point of route 2 of the Serra d'Irta Natural Park (Faro d'Irta-Cala Cubanita-Font de la Parra, 12.8 km, easy) and of the Ribamar coastal track, the Ruta del Cranc cycle route.

Las Fuentes out of season

Las Fuentes is a great base for a spring, autumn or winter stay. The Castellón coast enjoys more than 2,700 hours of sunshine a year, with average highs of around 16 °C in winter and around 21 °C in spring. The promenade, the marina and the lighthouse are just as enjoyable in those months, without the crowds.
